How to use the strikethrough text generator

  1. Type or paste your text

Each style updates as you type. Keep it to a few words; a crossed-out sentence is hard to read.

  2. Pick a line style and copy it

Strikethrough draws a full line through each letter, short stroke a lighter one, and slash a diagonal. Underline and double underline sit below the text.

  3. Paste it into your post

Paste into a LinkedIn post, comment or bio. The line stays because it is part of the Unicode text, not formatting.

A simple way to use strikethrough in a post

The classic move is a correction joke: cross out the word people expect, then write the honest one next to it. For example, “I spent the weekend r̶e̶s̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ rewriting one LinkedIn post.”

Want bold, italic or lists in the same post? The LinkedIn text formatter lets you style words inside a full draft.

Frequently asked questions

How does strikethrough text work without formatting?
The tool adds a combining character after each letter. A combining long stroke overlay (U+0336) draws a line through the letter before it, so the whole word looks crossed out. It is plain Unicode text, so it keeps the line when you paste it.
How do I cross out text on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn posts have no strikethrough button. Type your text above, copy the Strikethrough style and paste it into your post or comment.
Why are some letters not underlined?
The underline styles skip g, j, p, q and y. Their tails reach below the line, so an underline mark collides with them and reads like a strikethrough. Leaving them plain keeps the word readable.
Why does the line look broken in some apps?
Each letter carries its own short line, and fonts draw them slightly differently. In most apps the pieces join into one line; in a few fonts small gaps show between letters. Spaces stay unmarked on purpose.
What is strikethrough text used for on LinkedIn?
Mostly for a before-and-after joke or a correction: cross out the expected word and write the real one next to it. Used once in a post it gets a smile; used everywhere it is hard to read.
Is this strikethrough text generator free?
Yes. It is free with no signup, and everything runs in your browser. The text you convert never leaves your browser.
